Our history
Kingstone Lodge was founded over 32 years ago and has since remained a place of history, charm, and authentic Zanzibarian character. While the lodge has undergone thoughtful restorations over the years, it has always preserved its traditional Zanzibarian style and atmosphere. As the sister lodge to Promised Land Lodge in Kizimkazi, Kingstone Lodge was created to offer a more intimate experience, ideally located close to Stone Town. Its central position has always made it the perfect base for guests who want to explore the island while enjoying a peaceful and welcoming retreat.

“Kingstone Lodge was created from my personal vision and deep love for Zanzibar’s culture, history, and hospitality. I wanted to build a place that reflects traditional Zanzibarian style while offering guests a warm and intimate experience close to Stone Town. My goal has always been to create a home away from home where visitors can explore the island and truly feel connected to its spirit. Together with my dedicated team, I focus on preserving heritage, delivering genuine hospitality, and making sure every guest feels welcome and at ease.
